Our Thoughts

Kimpton De Witt Hotel in Amsterdam offers luxury, convenience, and style with modern rooms, upscale amenities, and a central location.

Imagine a luxury hotel where modern convenience meets Amsterdam's rich history. That's the Kimpton De Witt Hotel, the first Kimpton hotel outside the Americas, making its European debut.

Located just a three-minute walk from Centraal Station, this hotel is all about style, comfort, and easy access to the heart of Amsterdam.

We chose the Kimpton De Witt, which is part of the IHG group, because we wanted to try a different hotel than our last visit to Amsterdam, and because we wanted to be close to the train station.

The Kimpton De Witt Hotel is set in a unique location, nestled between one of Amsterdam’s main traffic thoroughfares and a bustling pedestrianized shopping street. While it may not be the top choice for couples looking for a romantic stay, it’s incredibly convenient for transport. It’s also just a five-minute walk to charming canals or a quick stroll to the vibrant nightlife of the red-light district. Plus, major museums are only a tram ride away.

The hotel itself is a striking blend of old and new. The 1980s building seamlessly incorporates two 17th-century Renaissance-era houses, creating a contemporary, edgy, and colourful design. As you step into the lobby, a long glass wall connects you to the vibrant street life outside. This expansive lobby lounge is divided into cozy seating areas, each offering a unique atmosphere. The mix of modern elements and historic touches like old beams and stained glass, along with ever-changing Dutch artworks, create a captivating ambiance.

The Kimpton De Witt’s commitment to detail extends to its 274 guest rooms and suites. The interiors are designed with a soothing blue-and-grey colour scheme, and adorned with local artworks and Delftware pottery references. These ample-sized rooms are well-insulated from the city’s hustle and bustle. Each room is equipped with thoughtful amenities such as an espresso machine, umbrella, iron, and even a yoga mat. The bathrooms are spacious, featuring walk-in showers with funky Escher-style tiling and high-quality local Marie-Stella-Maris products.

The hotel goes above and beyond when it comes to amenities. From the daily five o’clock Wine Hour, offering complimentary wine and snacks, to the free bicycles, well-equipped gym, cafe, cocktail bar, and lively restaurant, you’ll find everything you need to make your stay exceptional.

When it’s time to dine, the hotel’s Wyers Bar & Restaurant is the place to be. Led by Brooklyn-born chef “SammyD,” it offers American comfort food with a Dutch twist in a chic setting. For a taste of Louisiana-style beignets, you can visit Miss Louisa Coffee & Beignets, accessible from the street.

In summary, the Kimpton De Witt Hotel is your gateway to a luxurious Amsterdam experience. Stylish rooms, exceptional amenities, and a central location make it the perfect choice for travellers seeking to immerse themselves in the city’s vibrant culture and history. While it may be bustling with activity, the convenience it offers more than makes up for it.
