Our Thoughts

It’s incredibly easy to fall in love with this guest house and we’ll make this our future destination for a relaxing getaway from our daily routine at home. The value for what we received was outstanding considering what other hotels were priced at and the quality of amenities and service provision.

Cathy and I don’t usually stay at B and Bs due to our desire for privacy and a couple of bad experiences over the years. However, during the recent BC Day long weekend, we had the opportunity to stay in a rather special place while we spent the weekend with friends in the wine region.

E’Laysa Guesthouse is owned and operated by Silke (pronounced Silk-a), who together with her assistant Mike make staying here special and private. E’Laysa is an adult-only guesthouse which adds to the tranquility of the place.

Booking was easy and prompt responses were received and requests accommodated where possible.

We stayed in the luxury valley view suite and our friends stayed in in the luxury lake view suite on this trip.

The Guesthouse is located in a garden-like atmosphere in the middle of a vineyard surrounded by trees, with lots of outdoor furniture and seating throughout the property to relax on. There is also a lookout point with a few Muskoka chairs, an outdoor couch and a bistro table and chairs that look north toward Okanagan Lake and Naramata. Sadly, due to the wildfires we could not completely enjoy the views one would normally see due to the smoke hanging in the area.

The ten acre property has ten rooms and several private cottages. All rooms are very large suites, fully air-conditioned and well-appointed.

One of the delicious breakfasts we were served in the courtyard of E’Lyasa.
We were in awe of the amenities, the quality of the rooms, the calibre of the breakfasts which were served to us in the courtyard, and the warm and accommodating hosts, Silke and Mike who never made us feel uncomfortable or intruded on our privacy.

All in all, it’s incredibly easy to fall in love with this guest house and we’ll make this our future destination for a relaxing getaway from our daily routine at home. The value for what we received was outstanding considering what other hotels were priced at and the quality of amenities and service provision. Silke clearly puts her heart and soul into this hotel and surrounding property as evidenced by the meticulously manicured lawn, gardens and shrubbery.

Note that Silke and her small team are very busy and have limited time to spend socializing with guests, but that does not detract from being warm and professional at all times.

The location at the base of the Naramata bench and just outside Penticton makes it easy to explore the many local wineries and for the golf enthusiast, offers easy access to both Kelowna and Oliver which are both about 40 minutes away by car.

We had a great weekend with E’Laysa as a base and highly recommend staying here.
